Hip Compensation Claims is here to help you make a no win no fee compensation claim if you have received a DePuy ASR hip implant.

In 2010 DePuy Orthopaedics (part of Johnson and Johnson) recalled the DePuy ASR XL Acetabular System and the DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System hip implants.  There were significant concerns raised that the implant’s components when wearing together were leaking high levels of cobalt and chromium into the body.  The high levels of the chemicals have been found to contribute to painful symptoms like:

•    Groin or hip pain
•    Trouble walking
•    Clicking of your hip
•    Inflammation
•    Loss of feeling in your legs

There were also concerns over the implants’ high failure rate.  According to the British Orthopaedic Association their failure rates ranged from 21% after 4years to 49% after six years.  The metal on metal implants could also contribute to non-cancerous tumours.

Around 93,000 DePuy ASR implants were used in countries across the world including Scotland.  In Scotland those affected should have been contacted by a medical professional to either come in for tests or arrange a revision operation.

However, other forms of metal on metal hip implants could be affected.

If you have been affected or are concerned that you could be at risk, you should contact us on 0800 089 16 16 and speak to your doctor as soon as possible.
