METAL ON METAL HIP REPLACEMENTS

If you have received a metal on metal hip replacement, especially the DePuy ASR models, you could be entitled to claim compensation.

A number of varieties of metal on metal hip replacements have been used over the years by brands such as Zimmer and DePuy (part of the Johnson and Johnson group).  However, only the DePuy ASR XL Acetabular System and DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System have been recalled by the manufacturers.

In a number of cases the ASR’s parts were found to be leaking dangerous amounts of cobalt and chromium into the body which can cause non-cancerous tumours and damage muscle tissue.  It can cause a number of painful symptoms such as:

•    Groin or hip pain
•    Trouble walking
•    Clicking of your hip
•    Inflammation
•    Loss of feeling in your legs

If you are suffering any of the above symptoms and have received a metal on metal hip implant in the last eight years you should contact us and your doctor as soon as possible.  If you are concerned that you may be at risk you should also contact us with any questions you may have.

Equally, if you received the DePuy ASR XL Acetabular System or the ASR Hip Resurfacing System but are not experiencing the symptoms mentioned above, you should get in contact with us as soon as possible on 0800 089 16 16 or fill in our online claim form to discuss a no win no fee compensation claim.
